Blás na hÉireann for Achill Island Sea Salt

On Saturday the 30th of September Blás na hÉireann (Irish Food Awards) celebrated their 10th year of recognising the outstanding Irish food and drinks produce. Founded in 2007 to ensure that quality products could be recognised and acknowledged across the Irish foods and drinks industry and is now an important date in every food and drinks producer's diary.

The Blás brand is now widely accepted amongst Irish consumers and has given award winners the opportunity to guarantee great taste and quality for their customers.

Gaining a place in the final for our sea salt flakes, we headed down to the awards ceremony in the lovely Dongle, Co. Kerry. The dingle food festival was running in conjunction with the awards and the town was a buzzing, food lover’s paradise. The Backyard at Blás was also a great addition to the event. This dedicated space was set up for producers to network and gain knowledge about growing your food business. They had a great line up of speakers over the whole weekend. We sat in on ‘Getting your Story Straight’ with a panel of well-known Irish food writers and journalists, including Gillian Nelis of the Sunday Business Post. The main message we came away with was that your story is your differentiator, it sets you aside from your competitors, it’s what draws your customers in and keeping it simple is key.

We were thrilled to be awarded our second Silver Blás na hÉireann for our sea salt flakes and for it to be acknowledged for its quality and flavour.
