Discover the story of salt from ancient civilisations to modern Irish craft production in our brand-new self-guided immersive visitor experience on Achill Island. The tour brings the story of Achill Island Sea Salt to life through an immersive audio-visual presentation, a close-up view of our production process, hands-on science experiments, and a look at age-old salt superstitions from around the world.

Learn how salt has shaped history, culture and heritage, and discover what sets the world's different salts apart. The experience finishes with a tasting of our award-winning sea salts, leaving you with cooking inspiration and food pairings to bring home.

Gift Shop

Our visitor centre is also home to a small gift shop which features the Achill Island Sea Salt range, our new skincare range Sáile, made using a magnesium-rich by product of our salt harvesting process, and a number of uniquely Irish designed gifts and products.

The Salt Dock 

Our outdoor coffee dock is the perfect spot to relax after your tour with a specialty coffee and homemade baked treats.
