Hot cacao with Achill Island Sea Salt

Looking hot drink that gives you an energy boost but with out the caffeine jitters? The you have to try a hot cacao! Our favourite brand is Nibbed Cacao, made in Co. Galway and we love to finish it with a pinch of Achill island sea salt! And if you are in Achill in the summer you can try it out in our Salt Dock at the Achill Island Sea Salt Visitor centre! If you have a home coffee machine with a steam want, we find it easiest to make it with that, but if not we have some other directions from Nibbed Cacao. 

Ingredients:

  • 20g cacao - chopped or grated
  • 80ml water
  • 80ml of milk of choice, we use oat milk 
  • Pinch of Achill Island Sea Sal

Saucepan Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a saucepan.
  2. Heat over medium heat, whisking constantly until warm and slightly frothy. Do not let it boil.

Blender Method:

  1. Heat your water and milk mixture until hot but not boiling.
  2. Add all ingredients to your blender.
  3. Blend for 5 seconds.

Hot Chocolate Maker Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in your hot choc maker or milk frother.
